ANNIVERSARIES: Olive Kalinowska, Longin Kalinowski, Joe McColl, John & Kathleen
McLean Fr Kevin Barry & Canon John Doherty (both, former Parish Priests of St Fillan’s) Fr
Patrick B Moloney and Fr James Quinn - grant them eternal rest Lord.
SPECIAL COLLECTION for SPRED on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes (today) will
help fund the great work SPRED does for our parishioners with additional needs, helping
them understand and celebrate their faith.
THE REBUILD: those who attended recent Go & See tours around the St Fillan’s buildings
will be aware of the huge extent of the task in hand: church, house and hall, roofs, lofts,
windows and drainage all need urgent attention. A good summary of the recent in-depth
surveyor’s report can be seen on our parish website and on the notice board by main door.
Costs are yet to be finalised but estimated costs and parish savings (Building Fund, etc)
show that there will need to be significant fundraising. Parts of our building are more than
200 years old, even the slates are original, newer windows in the hall /old school building
now 100 + years old. These have served us (and our forebearers) well, but now we it falls
on us to take on the weighty responsibility of ensuring St Fillan’s for those who come after
us. Together we can achieve this.
SAVE THE DATE: the great Fundraiser Clothing Sale for our Building-Works’ Fund will
take place on Sunday 3rd March at 2pm at St Conval’s Hall in Linwood (adjacent to the
church) It surely will be an enjoyable afternoon. Suitable prizes for Raffle are required. More
information, tickets, etc from Margaret Winters, Fiona Catto or Kathleen A Oliver – contacts
and further details on posters in porch of church.
National Day of Prayer: Friday of this week, for any who have suffered abuse.
Remember Lent begins on Wednesday. In three days’ time we begin our
journey towards Holy Week and Easter. Get ready for action.
