REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: today (12 th Nov) at 12.00 noon, our annual Act of Remembrance will
take place at the Houston Village War Memorial. We will join with the Rev’d Gary Noonan and the
congregation of Houston Killelllan Church. All are welcome to attend. Later this afternoon the
Bridge of Weir Remembrance Service will take place at 3.00pm at the village War Memorial: “at the
going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”
SPECIAL COLLECTION: next Sunday – work of the Scottish Catholic Education Service.
THANK YOU for your continued generosity: individual donations of £25 and £100 were received
during the week for our special works Fabric Fund - rebuilding of St Fillan’s Church. More
structural surveys continue in the week ahead, including an important drainage survey. Insufficient
and poor drainage seems be key to some serious dampness issues affecting several parts of the
building. Walls and roofs will then be surveyed thoroughly following this week’s works. Estimates-
received this week for the immediate replacement of hall/church-extension windows (over one
hundred years old and rotted-through) are in the region of £25 – 30K. We are fortunate to have a
healthy building fund reserve, but fund-raising needs to continue as the works progress, step by step.
SCHOLA BENEDICTI - You may remember this most impressive group of young people
performed at a delightful Summer Parish Social Evening in Our Lady’s Garden a few years ago. Now
they are marking their tenth anniversary with a special concert at the University of Glasgow Memorial
Chapel - the Scottish Premier of Missa Deus Nobiscum - on Saturday 25th November at 7.30pm.
Tickets (£10) are available on the door on the night or through this link  SCHOLA BENEDICTI CHOIR

NOVEMBER: month of prayer for the souls of the faithful departed, the Holy Souls. Participation
(attentive prayer) in the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the greatest act of faith and love
one can make for those who have died. As part of the Communion of the Saints they rely on our
prayers and remembrance. Please take a November Remembrance (list and envelope) home with you.
Thank you to the many of you who have already returned their November List. Holy Mass is offered
each day during November for those whose names are included in the remembrance lists. Your
donation-enclosed is for the offering of such November Masses and is gratefully appreciated. AMcF
