ANNIVERSARIES: Kathleen Lynch and Charlie Doherty: grant them eternal rest.
NEW LECTIONARY: the books of the scriptures placed on the lectern and from which are proclaimed the Word of God(readings) at each Mass must be replaced by an updated translation from 1st December 2024 – the First Sunday of Advent. I have already ordered the new lectern editions of the lectionary. With this forthcoming revision of the translation many of you, especially readers, will be looking to replace your present People’s Edition of the Sunday Missal or Weekday Missal. Others may wish to purchase a new updated Missal to participate in Mass more fully. More details about this important update will be provided today and at next weekend’s Masses.
THANK YOU to all who took part last Sunday, in our first St Fillan’s Restoration Fund Garden Fete. The Fundraising Group’s hard work, hours of planning and organisation and meticulous preparation from very early-morning Sunday, all paid off. Over 600 people (of all ages) from our parish family, local community and beyond came together to support the cause. Everyone seemed to have a fun-filled time, taking part in the various games, visiting the stalls, enjoying the Rock Choir, Highland Dancing and even the Grand Prize Draw. At the last count more than £4,000 has been raised for the restoration of our historic church and hall. Further Fetedonations have been coming in this week by those who were away last weekend. Despite the rather gloomy weather forecast last Sunday morning, the day stayed 99% dry. Light rain for less than ten minutes. Glorious sunshine finally breaking through on what was as one villager commented: “abrilliant Village Family-Fete” and indeed it was. A very big Thank you to all who came along and especially to those who made it all possible, giving up many hours to prepare the beautiful garden, organise, and help on the actual day to make the Garden Fete a resounding success.

St Vincent de Paul’s feast day is on Saturday: may we continue to support the work of our SVdP Conference in St Fillan’s by our prayers, contributions and where possible involvement in its significant pastoral outreach in our community and beyond. AMcF
