DOORS OPEN DAY – a great success, with many visitors from near and far coming to view our historic
little church, it’s beautiful gardens and to meet our parish family. Thanks to our Fundraising Steering
Group and all other helpers for their time and considerable effort in making everyone so welcome and the
whole day so successful.
THANK YOU for your continued generosity over the summer months which make the recent-works and
the continuation of the restoration project possible. Special envelopes to support the Restoration Fund
are available at the door. Please, consider Gift-Aid and remember to make any cheque payable to St
Fillan’s RC Church, Houston.
It is, indeed, very good to be back among you after the summer-break and it has been a busy few days since my
return on board. I am so very grateful to Canon Michael McMahon (Linwood) for his friendship and his continued
help and care of St Fillan’s and for all of you who have really worked-away in my absence to help with events in
connection with the restoration project. Today (8

th Sept) is Our Lady’s Birthday: we are asked by Bishop John to
redouble our prayers for vocations this week. On this special feast, therefore, we pray for our parish family and our
diocese in union with the Mother of Christ, the Good Shepherd, the Queen of Apostles: “Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us now...”
